More and More States are Proclaiming June to be About Nuclear Family Pride Over Rainbows

Four Republican governors just did something conservatives have been begging for since approximately forever — they stopped whining about Pride Month and created their own June celebration instead. Tennessee, Indiana, Alabama, and Arkansas have all officially declared June as a month honoring the nuclear family, and the media meltdown has been absolutely glorious.

Imagine being so triggered by the concept of a mom, a dad, and their kids that you write a pearl-clutching USA Today feature about it. Welcome to 2026.

Tennessee led the charge. Republican Rep. Bud Hulsey of Kingsport authored HJR 182, which Governor Bill Lee signed on April 9, 2026, officially declaring June "Nuclear Family Month." The resolution defines the nuclear family as "one husband, one wife, and their biological, adopted, or foster children" and states plainly that "the nuclear family is God's perfect design for humanity and is aligned with the long-held traditional values of Tennessee." Not exactly the kind of language you find in a corporate DEI handbook.

Indiana Governor Mike Braun — a father of four and grandfather of seven — followed suit on June 1, issuing his own declaration. "The nuclear family, consisting of one husband, one wife, and any biological, adopted, or fostered children, is God's design for the family structure," Braun's proclamation reads. No hedging, no euphemisms, no focus-grouped nonsense.

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey went with "Strong Families Month," declaring that "homes led by a father and mother provide children with the structure and discipline necessary to succeed through life." And Arkansas Governor Sarah Sanders proclaimed June as "Fidelity Month," centered on commitment to faith, liberty, patriotism, and family. Sanders signed hers on May 27.

That's four states. Four governors. Zero apologies.

Now here's the part that makes this even better. Lakie Derrick, the conservative activist who authored the original Tennessee measure with a friend, admitted she absolutely targeted June on purpose — to counter Pride Month directly. She didn't even pretend otherwise. The resolution itself says "the nuclear family is under attack in our beloved State and nation," which is the kind of honesty that makes progressive heads explode.

Chris Sanders of the Tennessee Equality Project told Newsweek, "When the government comes in and says June...is Nuclear Family Month, yes, there's a bit of petty insulting going on there." Petty insulting? Brother, we've had an entire month of rainbow corporate logos shoved down our throats for a decade. One proclamation about moms and dads and suddenly it's "petty."

As Twitchy reported, the USA Today coverage by Fernando Cervantes Jr. treated this like some kind of constitutional crisis. Because of course they did.

Here's what the left doesn't understand. This isn't about being against anyone. It's about being for something — the institution that actually built civilization, that every piece of social science data says produces the best outcomes for children, that BLM's own founders once bragged about wanting to "disrupt." Well, four governors just said no thanks.

Meanwhile, Tampa Pride cancelled its 2026 festival entirely due to reduced corporate sponsorships and the collapse of DEI programs. Turns out when you stop forcing companies to virtue signal, they stop virtue signaling. Funny how that works.

Four states down. Forty-six to go. Happy Nuclear Family Month, America.
