Michael Wolff Tried to Sue Melania Trump and Got Laughed Out of Court

Author Michael Wolff — the guy who built an entire career writing gossipy anti-Trump books that read like fan fiction — just had his lawsuit against First Lady Melania Trump thrown out by a federal judge who essentially called his legal arguments ridiculous. U.S. District Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil used the word "contorted" to describe Wolff's case, which is judge-speak for "this is embarrassing and you should feel bad."

Imagine making millions off Trump hatred and still not being able to win a lawsuit against a Trump. That takes a special kind of talent.

Judge Vyskocil didn't just dismiss the case — she wrote a 45-page opinion dismantling it piece by piece. Forty-five pages. That's not a ruling, that's a roast. The judge wrote that the court "will not be conscripted to oversee an abusively presented spat," adding that the proceedings involved "an inappropriate level of tactical gamesmanship." She made it clear this is "not how the federal courts work."

Ouch.

So what was this whole thing about? Wolff sued Melania Trump back in October after the Daily Beast — that bastion of journalistic integrity — was forced to retract an article claiming Melania was "very involved" in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. The article's headline read: "Melania Trump 'Very Involved' in Epstein Scandal: Author." That author was Wolff. The Daily Beast pulled it. And then Wolff, apparently allergic to taking an L quietly, decided to sue the former First Lady.

His legal argument? According to his own suit, the Trumps "have made a practice of threatening those who speak against them." So his defense for making up lies about a woman was essentially: "They're mean to people who lie about them." Bold strategy.

Melania Trump wasn't having any of it. She fired back with a statement that left scorch marks: "The lies linking me with the disgraceful Jeffrey Epstein need to end today. The individuals lying about me are devoid of ethical standards, humility and respect. I do not object to their ignorance, but rather I reject their mean-spirited attempts to defame my reputation."

Her attorney, Alejandro Brito, pushed for the case to be thrown out, and Judge Vyskocil agreed — noting that despite the case's complications, "the outcome is simple." Simple as in: you lose, Mr. Wolff.

The Trumps had demanded $1 billion in damages in their countersuit over the defamatory Epstein claims. A billion dollars. That's how seriously they took the smear. Epstein died in federal prison back in August 2019, and apparently every hack writer in America decided his death was an opportunity to throw mud at anyone they didn't like — especially if her last name was Trump.

Let's be honest about what Wolff is. He's the guy who wrote "Fire and Fury" back in 2018, a book that was treated as gospel by the resistance crowd despite reading like a collection of overheard elevator conversations. He made a fortune telling liberals what they wanted to hear about the Trump White House. And when the gravy train started slowing down, he apparently decided to go after Melania with fabricated Epstein connections.

The judge saw right through it. The federal court in Manhattan saw right through it.

Here's the thing about going after the Trumps with garbage lawfare: they hit back. And they have better lawyers. And apparently, the judges aren't impressed with "contorted" legal theories from guys who write books based on unnamed sources and wishful thinking.

Wolff can go back to writing his next anti-Trump bestseller. But this time, maybe he should run it by a lawyer first — as reported by American Wire News.
