In June 2020, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani sat down for a segment on TASCTV and explained — on camera, in his own words — exactly how he manipulates white progressive voters to win elections.
And somehow, the con still worked.
The video shows Mamdani laying out his theory of racial coalition politics with the precision of a guy who's read the playbook and doesn't mind showing it off. His argument is simple: minority communities vote on identity because they've never had representation. White communities have always had representation, so they vote on ideology instead.
"I think that minority communities, because we have never had representation, we are tied much more to identity," Mamdani said. "White communities — they've had representation forever — and so for them their tie is a little less identity and a little more ideology."
Translation: tell white progressives what they want to hear on policy, and they'll hand you the keys. They're not voting for you. They're voting for how voting for you makes them feel.
It's a strategy as old as Saul Alinsky, who told Playboy magazine that "with rare exceptions, our activists and radicals are products of and rebels against our middle-class society." Mamdani didn't invent the hustle. He just said the quiet part out loud and nobody in his coalition bothered to rewind the tape.
Mamdani isn't an isolated case, either. Michigan Democrat Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed — another rising star of the progressive left — was caught on tape with his own gem: "You may not hate Muslims, but Muslims for sure hate you." The pattern is the same every time. Say what you actually think when you assume only friendlies are listening. Bank on the media never pressing play.
