Jim Jordan Pantsed the SPLC on Live Television and It Was Glorious

The Southern Poverty Law Center — the outfit that labels your grandmother's Bible study a hate group — just got publicly dismantled by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, and the video is everything you hoped it would be. SPLC interim leader Bryan K. Fair sat in the hot seat during a Judiciary Committee hearing and proceeded to melt like a popsicle on a July sidewalk.

You almost feel bad for the guy. Almost.

See, the SPLC has spent decades dodging any real accountability while raking in donations by slapping the "hate group" label on anyone to the right of Bernie Sanders. They've targeted churches, immigration enforcement advocates, and mainstream conservative organizations — all while pretending to be noble civil rights warriors. But on Tuesday, Jordan came loaded with receipts, and Fair had nowhere to hide.

The numbers alone are damning. A federal grand jury in Montgomery, Alabama handed down eleven criminal counts against individuals connected to the SPLC — charges including wire fraud, false statements, and conspiracy to commit concealment money laundering. We're talking about four million dollars allegedly funneled between 2014 and 2023. And where did that money go? According to the charges, it went toward extremist rally travel, recruitment, chapter creation, cross-burning materials, and KKK regalia.

Jordan zeroed in on the money trail with surgical precision. "Did you do it all for the money?" he asked Fair point-blank, as reported by LifeZette. Fair's response was the kind of bureaucratic dodge that would make a Washington lobbyist proud: "Those issues will be resolved in the pending allegations against the SPLC."

Translation: please don't make me answer that on camera.

When pressed further about the SPLC's activities, Fair offered this gem: "We did it to protect our staff and to protect the public." Protect the public. From what — conservative parents at school board meetings? Dr. Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., has been sounding the alarm on the SPLC's corruption for years. Turns out she was right all along.

Jordan wasn't having the deflections. "You can call it whatever you want, but the facts do not lie," he fired back. And there it was — the chairman of the Judiciary Committee telling the SPLC's leader, to his face, that the jig is up.

Fair was described as visibly uncomfortable throughout the hearing, appearing unprepared for the level of scrutiny Jordan brought. Which is telling. These people have operated for so long without anyone challenging them that they genuinely didn't know what to do when someone finally did.

We've been saying it for years — the SPLC is a fundraising machine dressed up as a civil rights organization. They weaponize the "hate" label to silence dissent, smear conservatives, and shake the money tree. And now a federal grand jury and a congressional committee are both pulling back the curtain at the same time.

The video is circulating everywhere, and it should be. Share it with every person who's ever been told the SPLC is a credible source. Watch Bryan K. Fair's face when Jordan corners him with the SPLC's own records.

This is what accountability looks like. And it's about time.
