Arizona Democratic Senator Ruben Gallego has quietly established a legal defense fund in connection with sexual misconduct allegations and an ethics complaint — because nothing says "I did nothing wrong" like hiring lawyers and filing paperwork with the IRS to pay them.
Remember when Democrats told us they were the party of "Believe All Women"? Funny how that motto only applies when the accused has an R next to his name.
The Senator Ruben Gallego Legal Defense Fund was officially established on May 22, 2026, according to an IRS legal expense trust filing reported on May 28. Under the fund's rules, individual donors can contribute up to $10,000, and any contribution over $25 must be disclosed quarterly. Corporations, unions, lobbyists, foreign agents, and Senate employees are barred from donating. How generous of him to have standards about who pays his legal bills, if not about his own conduct.
The allegations first surfaced publicly in April 2026 when Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna alleged that an unnamed senator was involved in sexual misconduct, calling the situation "very disturbing." By April 17, CBS News identified that senator as Gallego. Senate Majority Leader John Thune subsequently referred the matter to the Senate Ethics Committee.
Gallego's office, naturally, has dismissed the whole thing as "right-wing conspiracy theories." His team claims the legal defense fund was created because of attacks "from Luna, the President Trump administration, and their allies." Right. He opened a legal defense fund — the kind of thing you do when you're facing serious legal exposure — just because some Republicans were mean to him on TV.
Let's be clear about what a legal defense fund signals in Washington. You don't file IRS paperwork, set up donor limits, and start collecting cash because someone called you a name on cable news. You do it because lawyers have told you this isn't going away, and the bills are going to pile up. It's DC code for "buckle up."
And let's not forget this isn't exactly unprecedented territory for Democrats. Eric Swalwell managed to survive his own misconduct scandal relatively unscathed, proving that the left's outrage machine has a very convenient off switch when one of their own is in the crosshairs.
The Senate Ethics Committee now has the referral, Gallego has his legal fund, and Democrats have their fingers in their ears. The party that wanted to destroy Brett Kavanaugh over uncorroborated allegations from decades ago suddenly needs to see receipts, notarized statements, and a signed confession before they'll even raise an eyebrow at one of their own.
You don't open a legal defense fund for allegations you can laugh off. According to 100 Percent Fed Up, Gallego is gearing up for a fight — and the rest of us are just supposed to believe it's all a "right-wing conspiracy." Sure it is, Senator. That's why you're fundraising for lawyers.
