A Minnesota DA Just Charged an ICE Agent with Felonies for Doing His Job — The Same DA Who Let Antifa Skate Free

Hennepin County District Attorney Mary Moriarty — a woman whose entire career exists to make Minneapolis less safe — just issued an arrest warrant for a federal ICE agent and slapped him with two felony counts of second-degree assault. His crime? He pointed his service weapon at the occupants of a vehicle that cut off his unmarked SUV during an active immigration enforcement operation.

Because apparently in Minnesota, if you’re a federal agent trying to do your job and someone nearly runs you off the road during an arrest, you’re supposed to — what? Wave politely? Offer them a granola bar?

The agent’s name is Gregory Donnell Morgan Jr., and he’s now facing the kind of charges that Minnesota’s DA can’t seem to muster for people who actually commit violent crimes. You know, like the Antifa thugs who physically attacked journalist Savannah Hernandez during one of those charming “mostly peaceful” anti-ICE protests in the same county. Moriarty’s office looked at that assault — a mob attacking a woman on camera — and decided there simply wasn’t enough evidence to prosecute.

Funny how that works. Assault a journalist? “We just can’t make the case, folks.” Enforce federal immigration law? “FELONY CHARGES! GET THE WARRANT!”

This is the two-tier justice system that Democrats have been building, brick by brick, in every deep-blue jurisdiction in America. If you’re on their team — if you’re blocking ICE vans, throwing punches at reporters, or chaining yourself to a courthouse door in the name of “social justice” — you get a free pass and maybe a write-up in the local alt-weekly calling you a hero. If you’re a federal law enforcement officer doing exactly what the law says you’re supposed to do? They’ll try to put you in prison.

And Moriarty isn’t some rogue operator winging it. She’s the system working as designed. She ran for DA on a platform of going easy on criminals and hard on law enforcement. The voters of Hennepin County elected her knowing full well she’d pull stunts like this. Congratulations, Minneapolis. You’re getting exactly what you voted for.

(How’s that working out for your crime rate, by the way? Anyone want to check those numbers? No? Didn’t think so.)

Here’s what actually happened, for the record. Agent Morgan was part of an ICE operation when a vehicle cut off the unmarked federal SUV. In that situation — where you’re conducting an active enforcement operation and a vehicle makes an aggressive move toward you — drawing your weapon is standard procedure. It’s what agents are trained to do. It’s what any reasonable law enforcement officer would do when they don’t know if they’re about to get rammed, shot at, or ambushed.

But Mary Moriarty isn’t interested in what’s reasonable. She’s interested in sending a message: if you enforce immigration law in my county, I will come after you with everything I’ve got.

The irony is so thick you could spread it on toast. Democrats spent four years screaming that “nobody is above the law” while trying to prosecute Trump. Now one of their DAs is literally arguing that illegal aliens should be above the law — and the federal agents who enforce immigration statutes should be treated like criminals.

Pop quiz: What do you call a justice system where the criminals walk free and the cops get charged? If you answered “Minneapolis,” you win a participation trophy.

This is going to get interesting fast, because there’s a little thing called the Supremacy Clause that says federal law enforcement operating under federal authority can’t be prosecuted by some county DA with a political axe to grind. The Trump administration is not going to let this slide. AG Pam Bondi’s DOJ has already made it crystal clear that they will defend federal agents from political persecution — and that’s exactly what this is.

Moriarty picked this fight because she thought it would play well with her base. She wanted the headlines. She wanted the applause from the open-borders crowd. What she’s about to get is a constitutional smackdown from the federal government that’ll make her wish she’d just stayed in her lane.

We protect the people who protect our borders. Period. If Mary Moriarty doesn’t like that, she can take it up with the Constitution.
